I spent some time getting a local car club to let me photograph their autocross races so I could sell the images. I set up a pro Smugmug account, got business cards, and spent some time honing my skill. So far all I get is people asking me to just give them the digital files, they don't want to buy anything. One driver told me "What sold me is you got the car in sharp focus, and the background is blurred. You can really tell the cars are racing". So...did you buy any, since you're "sold" on my work? "Uh...no. My wife took photos on her iPhone". Yeah...thanksabunch pal.
Iphone photography,,,,,good grief.
Grouch, the way I look at it is you are having fun and if you sell something it is a bonus. Keep shooting and having fun and who knows where this could take you... :)
Display a couple enlargements at the next event, along with your business card. Sometimes an enlargement on display will make the difference.

I've been doing motorsport photography for years and in these days where every man and his dog has a digital camera, it's hard to sell anything...the biggest success I ever have is a DVD slideshow I do of an annual hill climb event...everyone buys the DVD, but I rarely ever sell any individual pics....
