Since this is in my house, it usually ends up being often photographed.

Nice coloration. What is your Working Distance (from lens front element to subject)?

You used a 30-mm lens, ISO 1400, 1/5-sec at f/9.

Your Nikon 1 has a sensor size of 13.2-mm x 8.8-mm (about the size of a pinky fingernail). You can see from the chart below, just how small this sensor is compared to more common APS-C sensors. Sensor size and WD determines captured image magnification.

About 2.5 to 3 inches (63-mm to 76-mm).

Getting close to macro. Best method to document field-of-view is to photograph a metric ruler, in bright sunlight, as close as you can focus, then compare image captured to metric ruler. At 1:1, your Nikon 1 should capture 13-mm of ruler.

So, this is not a true macro, yet.

Most likely not. The smaller the sensor, the smaller the subject area captured at 1:1 mag (life-size).
Photograph a metric ruler to document Minimum Focusing Distance field-of-view.
