A Few Spider FOCUS STACK

If anything stacking in the field will teach you patience. I missed at least a dozen good stacks as the spider moved before I was finished. The DoF is so shallow at 2x magnification I can only move a fraction before taking next shot. I'm finding F/11 works a little better in the field as it's a little more forgiving allowing more overlap in focus.

Thanks .Tom
I had a lot of jumpers to shot at today. I missed a bunch, damn things won't sit still thru the photo stack. Did you see the little jumper getting eaten in the second shot.

Martin, these are amazing. Is that another jumper in the jaws in #2? I really want to try this & I agree with going with f/11-- but I've still not seen a jumper here. I believe I saw these in Okla as a kid. They were about 10-mm and smaller and were jumpier than hell. I usually saw them on the side of the house-- on the metal gutters.

The thing here is DOF and sacrifice the increase in diffraction. Very nice work!

Hey Allen - I just couldn't get the over lap with F/9, to many gaps in focus. These are all 2x magnification. I might try a little 1:1 later this week and then try F/9 again, should work fine as I'll have a full 6 or 7 inches working distance again and better DoF.
These were found on buildings also. Man made structure near night lights seem to be the best areas to find them. Hope you find a few

I'll keep looking. I think they might require warm weather. We've had our first few days of 80s-- so maybe it's coming.
