Getting better with these guys.
I find that when I go through periods of not shooting alot that it takes some time for me to get used to my camera again. I have been shooting this guy a lot but I think that these are probably better than earlier sets... Being that it is a sunny day here probably did not hurt either, more light for focusing the reversed lens.
For a "Studio" I am using a potted bamboo plant on a table on the deck behind the house. I found this works really well for me as I can use the table to steady my arms and the small bamboo plant is not so large that the spider gets lost in it. Today I picked a couple of red flowers and dropped them down amongst the leaves to give background color. Although this spider is a poser he did not completely understand the concept so it only shows in a few images.
I think that the reason his eyes are so clear and black is that there is nothing reflecting back into his eyes, one of the reasons that I really like the bamboo plant, it is not cluttered with dense leaves and the leaves are long and thin which really make shooting much easier.
All images shot with a 28mm reversed lens on about 35mm worth of tubes, ISO 100, f/11, and manual flash with a home made paper towel diffuser.
fabulous...Good to see you posting.
The poser looks great on red. Potted plant is a great ideal.
You might be Blurry, Geff, but your photos aren't! Nice work!
wow!,love the next to last one
I reworked the fourth image, and realized that I have been much too conservative with sharpening. I was thinking that the reversed lens just was not going to be as good as some of the other setups that we see in this forum. After additional processing, I am thinking that the little old Minolta lens can represent itself pretty well.
Looks like the old Gas Stove your using bakes a pretty mean meal..
