These are some more photos from our trip to Big Bend N.P. in 2011. Questions/comments welcome. Enjoy.
In the "big city" of Terlingua just outside the western edge of the park
Terlingua General Store with some local residents
The internet has arrived in Terlingua
In the Terlingua "burbs"
Found this abandoned old house just outside Terlingua
This abandoned house made for some good photo ops.
I especially liked this view with the window.
More beautiful rock formations in the early evening light.
Ditto above

Great shots-love them. Were they all shot with the same lens? The first 7 are tack sharp on download. The last two are good, but not quite as sharp as the other 7.

Who built those "houses?"
Nice photography, I'd rather look at your pics than go there? Where's the action?

Thanks for sharing your wonderful series. I've heard of this place but haven't seen any photos until now.

Thanks for the feedback DOOK. Yes, all were shot with my 7D's 18-135 lens. As for the last 2, yes they are a bit fuzzy. I was probably guilty of insufficient camera steadiness when shooting those.

Not sure who actually built Terlingua, but from what I have read, its beginnings were based on mining. A mineral called cinnabar was mined & metallic mercury was extracted from it.
