Now I know why.

Personally, I don't offer my photos for critiques, not that some of them couldn't benefit from another viewpoint but I have the tools, know the techniques and don't welcome anyone messing with my stuff. When someone asks for an opinion, there's no nit-picking on subjective things. Sometimes the best way to pass on a thought is a visible one. If the recipient likes what they see and wants to know how something not obvious was accomplished, they can ask.
But you do not ask first, per your statement. I stay quiet (ah!) in many instances because when I see what is offered I sort of lose the incentive to help. (or I contact on PM)
I hate kids (noisy, smelly and so forth((MWO*) but I love teaching them because they always come up with questions I have no answer to.
Here it should be the same, after all, even at 77 years old we need to keep learning just for fun and to stay alive. (pastry roller jokes aside)

No..I haven't asked but now that you've made a point, I'll be less likely to put in the time without implicit permission.
can't you all just along............
That is the idea, is to get along by not interfering with someone work but offer constructive comments, not redo everything.
my point..it's like don't ask don't tell.People are just humans, they do what they think is right.....then THINK,sorry just one of mine.
My freedom stops before your toes start right?
It is the same here. Redoing AND posting w/o being asked is stepping on toes.
wonderfuly put....so you mean because i wasn't asked i should not be posting on this question,am i right or just thinking i am right,,
We are not speaking of this conversation but of folks asking for advice who see their thread trashed by unrequested
posted edits.

I had my piece now yours?
So, no, no toes being stepped on, here, in this thread.
ok got ya...thank you for your time and understanding,i have seen you work wonderful,i would never change anyones photo,it is not mine to do so.
I like your reply. It is much more pleasant and productive to let people know what you want when you ask for help. Just say, please don't edit and repost.
And take a moment and let people know you appreciate the time they spent on your picture but for you the picture they posted isn't a hit. People want to be helpful. The conversation if gentle could help us, "lurkers".
Bernie, stop lurking now, you just stepped out of your shell. We need folks like you to contribute.
My take on it-If you have a great camera, why do you need to fix the picture.Everybody wants to FIX someone elses picture to what they want or what they think it should be.I would never want any of you to fix my pictures. I could never post my pic's because of dial-up. I think it was a big deal for me to post a new avatar-it only took a half hour to send it.
