I'd like to purchase a photo vest. Domke and Tamrac makes them. What do those who wear them recommend?
Thankx

I have worn the same Domke vest for more than 20 years now, it lasts forever. BUT they changed their design after the London Olympics, smaller pockets and removal of the accessory "D" rings and a shorter cut. Look for an older version on Ebay. Whatever you get make sure it is a "noiseless" fabric if you do any wildlife shooting.

I wear the old style Domke vest, but mine is black - hard to wear in 100 degree weather in summer in Sacramento. I have been looking at a tan Domke jacket with zip out sleeves.

I have a Domke and a Kalahari - the Domke I use in winter as it is heavier, warmer and has removable sleeves. The Kalahari I use in summer - it is sleeveless. I enjoy them both and very rarely go out without one of them.
The first vest I tried was a Kilwell fishing vest and is very lightweight - it just doesn't carry as much as the other 2

I have worn a Cabelo's Safari vest for years. Still sells for 55-60 dollars. Good quality and durable. Worn and washed many, many times. 16 pockets have been plenty for me. A couple of lenses, filter wallets and other stuff all fit. Warning, 16 pockets full of stuff can get heavy. Lets just say 5 lenses and an extra body plus stuff
made me rethink about using all pockets just because I had them.

I use a fishing vest I got at a sports store. Works great except for the 70-200 is too big for any of the front pockets.

My local camera shop sells a vest made by a company called "Humvee." I think they are available on B&H as well. Less than $60 and a pretty good value. I live in New Orleans and the vest is unused in the hot months. In the cooler months, it's a pleasure to have out doors.

Hi,
I have a COTTON vest and side holder for the last 4 years and won't go out with out it. I just bot back from crane Creek birding for 8 hours a day for 4 days and wore it all day and could never do that without it.
