Any decent camera stores in ATL?
I am looking for a decent camera store in Atlanta GA to go and handle some new merchandise. I'd even settle for a good sized Ritz/Wolf as long as it had a good selection. The Ritz closest to me is tiny and doesn't have much of a selection.
Any ideas?
I did an internet search and didn't find much. Showcase Photo seems to be more of a rental place and KEH has a repair facility there but no showroom.
Thanks for your assistance,
Eric

hawk photo is in atlanta i don't know where. ritz'wolf have some stores designated professional that are suposed to carry a wider variety and also used . This is a crazy idea but call KEH they would know the area stores and im sure would give you a referal.
Thanks,
I'll give that a try.

keh also sells used equipment on line....don;t know if they have a store or not
I used to be in the Paulding County Photo Club & when we went to the North Georgia "Shootout", there were vendors on site that had their latest & greatest gear for everyone to see (& buy)...Depending on what brand you want to buy, you might contact Nikon, Cann or whomever else & ask them what local stores would have whichever DSLR it is that you want ,in stock, for you to look at...BTW, Stores likle Best Buy & Brandsmart do have some DSLR's on display
Wolf has a few larger stores here in the Atlanta area. They call them the Ultra stores. There is still one near Gwinnett Place Mall.
Also, Showcase is an outstanding store. I buy most of my stuff there now, even though I used to work for Wolf. They carry almost everything for stills as well as video production.
Photo Barn has gone out of business.
You might want try PPR (Professional Photo Resources) in the mid-town area. I think they are on 11th street. These guys also rent cameras and lenses if you want to "try before you buy."
KEH is here in the area, and they will let you in to look at merchandise (or used to) if they think you are a serious buyer.
Once upon a time Wing's Camera was open near I-85 and Clairmont & Briarcliff? I think this was the location.
Best of Luck!!!
Amazon has just about every camera you can think of. Their usually cheaper than any camera store

The OP also wants to handle one so as to see what feels best in his opinion...Can't touch them when you shop on Amazon...

After you look at Showcase, then place your order with Adorama or B and H Photo. Their prices are lots lower.

also if you have questions about your camera you can't ask amazon, nor can you stop in and shoot the breeze at amazon or meet other local photographers and socialize like at your local camera store. you have better chance of talking to a real photographer who is a salesman at a real camera store. I buy used online but new i support my local businessmen who employ localy and pay local taxes. The reason we are in this mess inUSA is that everyone wants things so cheap they have to be made in china. spend a little more money and keep a local institution alive. A good camera store is like a good cigar shop or a good barbershop.

that is completly UNETHICAL and down right scummy. Your salespeople are on commision to make their living and you are taking money out of there pocket and food from their table doing that. You want to see and touch the cameras, then you need to pay the piper and buy from a store not the internet. you want to save bucks, well the cost of saving bucks is not getting to handel the merchandise, and not walking out of the store with it.
I see you are from kennesaw, im a former acworth cop.
Geeeez, I didn't know it was so unamerican shopping at amazon. from now on I'm shopping at my local Ritz Camera store

If I had unlimited resources it wouldn't be a problem. Shopping around is the American way!

wasting a salespersons time is not the American way. Buying locally means the state of georgia can collect sales tax to support your local schools. The people who work at showcase pay georgia income taxes, buy houses in georgia, shop at georgia stores, contribute to a growing atlanta economy that directly or indirectly keeps kennesaw and YOUR job aflot. the people who work at amazon, probably live in new delhi, don't pay american taxes and in fact steal jobs from americans. In addition if you have a problem with the camera you bought online, who are you going to go to for getting your questions answered? it takes a lot of gall to go in a store look at the merchandise, order elsewhere, then go in to the store you didn't buy from to get your questions answered by someone who is missing a sale to help a person who will not by from him. Like I said, unethical, rude and classless behavior.
people who work at Amazon have to eat too but don't forget, we're helping to build the Japanese economy. If you really want to keep jobs in America, we should by digital cameras from Kodak
