No the dreaded pumpkin team from 70 miles south swept them 8-2, and 16-3. Oh well the other high school in town has their home opener tonight maybe we can win that nad call it a split :-)
Ivy, just a wild guess but #10 is your son? LOL Great timing with the ball on the bat in the first. Like the capture in four and the stare down in five. Good luck tonight. :)
Actually no my son is #16 (second and third picture)

Oops. Just looked again, sorry, the only jersey number shown is #10 and I thought all of your photos were of the same boy.
Well done with the 1st shot - I've yet to get that precise crack of the bat.
Very nice and clear shots. We had our openier last weekend, should post some shots. Have to shoot again tomorrow so I'll post them then. One thing I always enjoy in shooting sports is getting those shots where you catch them with wild facial expressions. Hope to see more. I always forget about this section which is odd since I shoot sports for a living.......
Looking forward to your shots! Last nights game were pretty average for me. I need some more photos posted here for some inspiration!
Hope I can give you some. The park we are playing in today isn't exactly photographer friendly with an 8 foot fence surrounding the park. I believe it has a press box but if I remember right the windows were so filthy it was impossible to shoot through them. Have to see what I can get from the 3rd base dugout which isn't nothing to write about for right handed batters. We'll see what happens---at least it's not snowing, 53 at game time............

Here's a couple from my grand daughter's game last week.
Here are a few I shot over the last 2 weeks. Some good some so so..........
Starting Pitcher
Out at the plate
Turning Two
Catching up with the fastball
Flying High
raymondh what lens are you using? Must be big to shoot from centerfield! I like the shot it gives you on second base. COCO I can't decide which I like better out at the plate or turning two.
Figured I'd throw the other HS opener in here too...it was hard to shoot not much flow to the game and NCE pitchers struggled...

Well, I just got the Canon 300, 2.8 for my 7d & I found out it was too close to pick up action from 1st or 3rd. The shots are extremely sharp (see attached) but it's hard to get the appropriate combatants in the shot. From the left field fence, 296', I can only get the battery @ home plate & a bit of the pitcher after she completes her stride.
The ones I posted are with a70-200 F2.8 IS. I cropped the pitcher/home plate shots about 40% & 2nd base maybe 20%. They still seem to be reasonably sharp.
300mm Cropped a smidge( from 1st base)
