This is the 2nd set of a two part series on the Plain & Simple Railroad.
This set just shows another Steam Locomotive that runs on this railroad. I have a couple of more steamers but I blew them up. I do have a single Soo Line diesel locomotive used for hauling freight. The diesel is used once in awhile to pull excursions when the steam locomotives are down for routine maintenance per FRA rules.
I also wanted to show in this series that there are other hazards to a garden railroad besides, wind, rain, snow, ice, and giant weeds. I am only showing one of these other hazards here. One of the others being small children.
Great set Tom, boys toys all the way, (cat excluded)

Thanks GWR! By the way... Do you happen to know why toy trains and women's breasts are alike?
Because they are both made for the kids but it is the daddy's that end up playing with them!
That is too cool. Especially the Catzilla action shots. How long did it take to put all of that together?

Both sets are really nice Tom. I am going to make a gazebo and a deck in the yard this summer. After that a train might be in order.:):) I am sure you will get a lot of emails when I start.:) What kind of grade will it take without hurting the engine?

From planning to planting, about a month. I already had collected the track and had a locomotive and some cars. Including cutting up the wood for the trestles, staining it, inserting them into the ground and the overall assembly only took 3 days total.

I would go no more than 1 to 1 1/2 % When I set this thing, I was no more than 1/16th of an inch out of level. I used an optical transit for this. It was easy.

Thanks briace. They are not as cool as your shots, but I did try to make it interesting.
A black cat crossing the track---any locomotive bad luck come with that other than crashing with the train. Was it called the cow pusher on locomotives---that front end that would literally push a cow off the track??

It was called a cow catcher. In this case I just run the train at full speed. She moves.
