Having had my D800 for a few months, I decided I needed a new bag. I was looking for a good quality, over the shoulder bag sized to hold D800 with lens, and flash, and room for a few other things. I brought the gear to our Brick and mortar Calumet store (pretty much the best around her) and started searching. A young, very knowledgeable woman helped me try about 15 bags! I ended up with a new Calumet "PRO" bag that has worked out well. It is well constructed, lots of zippered storage pockets, seals well against our New England blizzards and included a complete , zip on rain cover. I was pleased with the Service, the product and was reminded again why I prefer to buy in a place where I see a person on the other side of the counter. Just wanted to share a positive experience.
Oh yeah, I did find several other things I "Needed"! Of Course!
I have bought so many camera bags, I feel like I ought'a open a store!! I still haven't found the right bag!!
There is always things we see at the Camera store that we need. Glad you found a bag you like. Still looking.

In other words, they did not have to ask if you wanted "French fries" with that!, LOL, I always up-sell myself every time I go into a store that has knowledgable, helpful people as well!!!
I bought a new logitech wireless keyboard and mouse for £20 from Scan Computers (a UK discount IT outlet) and they gave me a Targus camera bag FREE!! I now use it every time I go out, it holds both cameras, small tripod, spare batteries and a zoom lens. The quality is excellent and the straps and zips are very high quality.
regardless of which camera bag you buy it will always be one item too small.
Like most of you long timers, over the past 45 years I have purchased dozens of bags which include shoulder and backpack type. My favorite though, and the one I keep defaulting to is the original Domke F2 that I bought in the 70's. It's design and layout are just perfect and the only change I made was to change out the shoulder strap for an Optech.

Your experience is exactly why I prefer "in-store" whenever possible. I may pay more with sales tax, but that is offset a bit by shipping charges.

Or you can find what you like in store, then...chances are B&H will have it and avoid tax and shipping.

That's an example of why a local, well-stocked camera store is essential. I'm glad you have one available.

Great Idea, great way to insure that there will eventually be no local stores.

Right. This type of thing is frowned upon. If you see something you want in a local camera store, buy it there, especially if you take up the salesperson's time.

Jerry, I am with you 100 percent. A few bucks extra to help the local economy, keep a quality shop I need around is well worth it. Also tend to get exceptional services on returns, trials etc.
