I'm leaving for Disneyworld tomorrow and I'm wondering what lens would be best to capture the fireworks from across the lake? I know, I know, last minute question. I'm staying at the Polynesian.& fireworks are over the Magic Kingdom. 70-200, 24-70? Thanks in advance for your help!

I would recommend taking the 70-200mm lens since, I believe you will be a good distance from the fireworks. Click on this link http://www.dubinphotography.net/Travel/Road-Trip-August-2008/Niagara-Falls/6316324_33dHkg#398298992_TjHrG and you can view some fireworks photos I took from our hotel while in Niagara Falls using my Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 lens. I would also recommend using a tripod when taking the fireworks. Arnold

I agree on the 70-200. Focus it manually. Try ISO of 200 to 400. Use a 1-second or longer shutter opening. There are hundreds of web pages with technical tips on shooting fireworks as well.

Google is your friend.

Given a choice , the longer 70-200mm. You probably want to use the shorter one when walking around. My walking around lens is usually a 18-270 or 28-300. I hate having to switch lens on the move.

The 70-200, flat out. PS. Check on your homeowner's policy to make sure your equipment is covered (quick call to your agent can save thousands). If you have trip protection, also make sure it covers the equipment...and HAVE A SUPER GOOD TIME!!

I shot this one and many others from across a lake. I used a Tamron 18-270 IS . Shot it at 50mm on bulb,(time about 10 sec) at f13 on a tripod using a corded shuter release and live mode(the LCD screen). Edited in PSP X3. Looks OK to me.

Entered in a local photo contest.

Shadow, your upload is a big-ass TIF format file. You might try converting it to JPG for the board here. Just a thought.

Too bad you reduce it. Bit of noise in the sky but in this type of shot it is nearly impossible to avoid. Interesting details in the explosion. Good luck with the contest.

Not complaining, Cojones-eater - the board software doesn't display TIF files, that's all. I don't really give a rats ass if you upload your entire photo collection in TIF format.

Great shot. It was kind of strange, that you posted the still as a movie.
