In NC they are protected. On Ft.Bragg some of the pine areas there is no training is allowed. Of limits. Other areas are also noted with signs telling you not to mess around in their habitat, stay out. Maybe you could fly a few up our way. I have one that comes to get his peanut fix from my feeder.
