i love jazz and the blues, WHAT I HATE is radio programs that use 10-15 minutes between sets naming all the artist and giving you a history of the music. i don't want to be educated, i just want to hear the music.

You may want to listen to WWOZ, in New Orleans. That station plays all sorts of Jazz, and starting on Friday, they will be broadcasting from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The station has their own Jazz tent at the Fest too. WWOZ also has a web presence, and you can listen over the net. It is a public owned station, no commercials, and volunteer DJs, who set up their own programs. Worth a listen.

Art Tatum was from Toledo, close to where I hailed from before moving to Florida. There's a lot of documentary information about him on PBS there, books, fan clubs, etc. I once heard that he could play leads and melodies with the right hand and chords with the left, or reverse and play chords with the right and leads and melodies with the left (back and forth during a live performance), or play leads that were not synchronized with each other with both hands at the same time - all while drinking because of boredom. What a genius! There is nobody that compares.
