Remembering Grandpa

Took this with a Pocket Kodak Point & Shoot...back on May 1, 2008

It is not the most Technical Photo I have ever taken, but one that tugs at our Families Heart Strings.

On My Father in Law's 90th Birthday, We had 90 Candles on his Cake. As, He attempted to puff out all the Candles, on the spur of the moment his Great Grandson Aaron age four at the time, hopped up on a chair and added his puff to help PePa puff out all those Candles...

By the Grace of God...the Kodak shutter lag was not so slow that I was able to capture this precious moment in our lives.

Sadly, We lost Grandpa on April 15, 2012, He would have turned age 94 on May 1, 2012.

Photography Memories to me are to enrich and sooth our souls.

Added benefit are all the friends I have made on the Hog...

Hi Tom

Thanks for sharing this moment in your families life - how special that is that a 4 year old great gransdon was able to help blow out the candles

I am a real sucker for these family shots that mean so much to the few that see (usually) them

great capture - thanks for the background info

GREAT image, did you make a real hones-to-God print out of this so you will have it for that great grandson? When he is 50, he will treasure it - unless of course you left it on a hard drive that crashed or CD that rotted away!

Thanks, Appreciate that.

Yes Sir, I made prints and have copied on Harddrives, DVD's, etc.

Thank You for the comments...I was a bit hesitant to post.

(My Wife's Father was a "Fantastic man" for over 52 years he was like the Father I never had...He is greatly loved by all of us...and that tug at the heart overcame my hesitation to post. We lost him on April 15, 2012, he would have turned age 95 if he had made it to this May 1st)

Especially Hesitant, when I see the Professional Quality of work You and many others do, and the fact it was shot with a cheapo Pocket P & S.

After this shot, I bought a Nikon D-5000 last year, have learned enough to be a Nuisance on this wonderful Forum.

Last Month, I bought a Nikon D-600 my first FX, with a couple of Lens, reading, practicing and following the comments on the Forum. Really enjoying the Challenge to be a decent Amateur with the Camera.

Even as an old guy in his early 70's often when I read some of the helpful critiques from you and others. I am like a Wide Eyed Kid, who just past his first Algebra I Exam.

Erv, In Ohio has been fantastic. He has spent a lot of his time emailing me, offering suggestions, critiques, etc., I owe him a lot.

Thanks for comments on preserving photo.

Thanks Karl,

That's me too. Like many, I had a hard youth family wise.

The man on high found me a wonderful gal for me over 51 years ago. Her Family became mine, her Dad was my Dad.

Owe him a lot, raising a great lady for me, his counsel over 5o years...our three kids and three grandkids, the american Dream...a life I would never dreamed of as a kid on a tenant farm.
Thanks for the comments and my not so good Technical Quality Photo.
