Refurb 28~300 Nikor or new? Differences? Cost and warranty. Thoughts?

Do you always buy a NEW house/car etc

Why not pre owned from a reputable dealer

I buy refurb whenever I can. No complaints. Make sure it's factory refurb and not just a returned camera that a dealer is selling.

As I have said soooooo many times, I shop at London camera Exchange, never ever bought a pre owned piece of kit that looks pre owned

Good point, Jerry!
Factory refurbished assures us that the item has been through an additional level of personalized quality control.
"Better than new."

At least we hope so.

If the refurb is by Nikon: buy used.

On the three occasions that I have had to have lenses repaired, they have been returned from Nikon with better focus, faster focus, and have been returned to a new condition (even scratches gone - yet same serial number).

Save your bucks for other toys! (ahem -- necessities).

HTH

Just make sure that the lens is the "correct" lens for your camera. Sounds simple, but I have made this mistake, bought a lens for and older Nikon and it would not work. a beginners mistake

Yep, just bought factory refurbished 28~300 Nikon from Adorama. Saved about $225. In box as it was when it left the Nikon factory. Bought a 7 year warranty for additional $34.95 and made out really well. Now on to other refurbed lenses. Thanks people.

I've bought refurbished lenses and cameras from B&H with no problems. I prefer new with a longer warranty, but sometimes the budget dictates...darn!

I purchased a factory refurb from B&H for my Nikon and I have not had any problems. Well worth the $150.00 savings.

Make sure it's a "factory" refurb or if you trust your supplier buy used if it has a good rating.
