And How Many Bullets Do You Need?
Jim Yardley

Last night, I watched the amateur home video of the shootout between Boston and Watertown police and the person referred to as "Suspect #1."
I learned that there were something on the order of 200 shots fired during that firefight.
Think about that for just a moment. It took a dozen or more cops, who are trained professionals, who practice on at least a weekly basis with their firearms, to fire 200 rounds before he finally died.
Yet our politicians (at least here in New York, and some in Washington -- as well as other places, I'm sure) are saying that the most anyone needs to have to protect himself from armed intruders is seven rounds in the magazine.
Only seven?!
Of course, it took trained police, who were not dealing with an unexpected attack, who were not roused from a peaceful slumber, who were not worried about their wives and kids, some 200 rounds to kill one dangerous man.
Makes you wonder if those politicians have even the slightest, tiniest hint of anything connected with the real world, doesn't it?

Later on, did you hear the number of shots overall on the youngest terrorist ?

He was wounded but probably well protected by the fiberglass boat surrounding him.

And then 3 flash-bangs within 30 seconds to stun him and all three went off within a foot of his body ?

A little under kill I think.

Although I AM curious to understand his reasons - -
I am NOT sure it will be worth the millions it will cost in legal fees.
This Terrorist is NOT a US Citizen
It is NOT eligible for the rights afforded to US citizens.
It should be sent to Guantanamo until it talks
Not to mention the Saudi Prince being protected by the OBummer Administration

I thought he (the younger brother) was made a citizen last Sept.11.

Sarge69 a 9mm round fired from a browning pistol will, at close range, penetrate a pine block to a depth of nine inches (I was told by my army instructor). Given that this is a close-range fairly low powered weapon and that police, I suspect, would have been using more powerful weapons I doubt that the fibreglass would afford much, if any protection. I could be wrong of course, I frequently am.

Suspect #1 was not killed by police bullets after all that. He was forced to the ground by the police who handcuffed him. While suspect #1was on the ground his brother, trying to escape, drove a vehicle over him. That is how #1 died.

True or not, that is the way it should be played.

And How Many Bullets Do You Need? br Jim Yardley b... (show quote)

It also heard this number being kicked around by mainstream media as well. I hate to tell you this but, other then the SWAT teams many police officers. Only shot their service weapon once a year to qualify. Many private citizens shoot better than the police do. However, in this case every bullet was worth it.

The point about us citizens only needing 7 rounds to defend ourselves was well made. It's an arbitrary and capricious political decision made by those who have no knowledge on the issue.

my read was that "they" wanted to limit us to 10 rds. per mag.which sounds good to me. i see toooo many movies where they pump 10- 25 bullits into the bad guy. it must be niice when you have your own ammo store standing by.

The average "gunfight" between civilians is 3-5 rounds in 3-5 seconds with only one round actually hitting anyone. It is much easier to shoot someone standing in front of you than to try to hit a fleeing subject or someone who is in hiding. There was a magazine capacity limit of 10 rounds in the 80's (which was rescinded,) I worked at a gun store, when customers would complain they couldn't buy 16 round magazines, I would tell them; "If you NEED that many rounds you are either a drug dealer or in a standoff with the police." BTW I am pro gun ownership, pro concealed carry and pro background checks. While working at the gun store we prevented many people from purchasing firearms by doing the background check and by the 3 day waiting period in place in Florida. However, I am fully aware that if ANYONE wants to get a gun, they can get one... legally or not.
