Just to confirm - they ARE collared doves, and all pigeons are dove species.
My real surprise is that you didn't know; Cornwall must have been spared. I remember the time when collared doves were virtully unknown in Britain, but when they did arrive they spread like wildfire. You are lucky; they are a nuisance in many ways, not least with their incessant cooing, day or night.

We have mainly gulls in the cemetery where I live

Hi GHK, we do have a lot of pigeons around are area, but these are the first collared doves I've seen, hence my confusion. Anyway I know now. Thanks for looking, cheers

We've got quite a lot of gulls around Launceston. There seems to be more gulls inland now than by the coast, after all we are 18 miles from Bude . . .

I used to live in "Lanson" Roydon Lane

Drive through there from Tavvy all the time for Widemouth and the Otter Sanctuary.

Little buggers attack you if you get too close to their nests in summer here
