Hello again everyone. I ran across the subject tripod at a garage sale this morning and purchased it for $8.00. It does not have a ball head and is heavy ei: sturdy as heck. Anyone know anything about it and what ball head would you recommend for it?
Thanks much!

The Bogen 3001 is the baby brother of the Bogen 3021. It is a capable, lightweight tripod and very well built. For best results never extend the center column, and also try to not extend the lower leg portions unless you need to, they are very thin and will contribute to shaking in the wind. I keep one around with a Bogen 3028 head mounted on bottom of the inverted center column specifically for "right on the ground" type shots.
Look for a lighter ball head to put on it for general photography use, something like the Bogen 3262, ot is well matched to those legs. You got a good buy, they usually sell in the $50 range without a head.

Appreciate the prompt response. I will look for a Ball head and go from there to great pictures of course.
Thanks,

The tripod came with a head on it so i am assuming it is a bogen head also. there are not any seperet numbers on the head.

I did buy a calumet 7045 medium ball head with quick release plate.
and it is very stable. depending on your camera you may want the large one.
Price for the medium was $76.99 it comes with one plate extras are $9.99
Hope this helps
