I'm looking to take a cruse real soon with my grand kids 3of 8, disney has an island where you can snorkel and see underwater statues, I want to purchase a camera i can use underwater and for land shots, really dont want to lug my D5000, has anyone had any luck, not looking to spend too much, but would like some shots to remember, I would like make, model, price, and if you can show an example of your findings,
thank you JOE

Several on UHH have gotten various models of the Pentax and Olympus P&S that go up to 30ft deep and have gotten very good results. Don't know the pricing but you should be able to check that out on Amazon fairly easily. I think the Olympus versions are called the "Tough" series.

The Nikon AW-100 is a top-seller, whatever that means. It's in the "tough" class, and good for about 30'.

I purchased this one for my wife last year, great little camera. Takes stills and video with sound, even under water. Here are a couple of images taken with it.

I took a trip to Hawaii a few years back and went snorkeling. I rented an underwater camera. Might want to check this out.

It is the Nikon AW-100 that Jerry was talking about. Its good for 30 feet, it has a lot of functions, to numerous to mention. Check it out on B&H or Adorama.

I believe that the AW-100 has been discontinued, not sure, but I did notice when I was in Best Buy that they had them on sale, you can get a pretty good deal on them right now, under $200.00. I will have to check out the AW-110.
