Hi, I'm looking for a ring flash for D7000 with Tamron 90mm macro lens. Does anyone have any experience or know about this one & could give me some feedback or recommend something else that would be a better buy, don't really want to go over $100.
I'm guessing this won't work with iTTL or will it ?

I have one I bought from amazon.com for close to$40 love it, only problem I can only use manual settings because the ring light blocks the AF sensor.

Hi murm: I have the Yongnuo MR-58 LED Macro ring flash. To a point I like it, there are some interesting features with this unit beside the seven levels of lighting it is also capable of a right side left side flash and continuous light mode as well. Note that the sync speed of some combinations of camera and flash may be lower. I've not tried to use nor do I believe it has TTL capabilities. One other point is the manual for this unit is actually written in understandable English. I'd recommend the Yougnuo MR-58 Macro ring flash. Enjoy !!

Thanks travlnman46, the kind of feedback I'm looking for, I noticed this has a flash sync speed of 1/250s same as camera while a lot of others don't mention sync speed & others are only 100 & something. I've always used manual on my old ring so I guess no TTL is not that big a deal.
Cheers

Hi again murm: I actually prefer manual focus especially when it comes to macro photography.

I'm with you, I use manual everything so I just get enough light to light the subject & have black backgrounds, check out my 500pixel link at the bottom of my posts, I've just started to start loading some up, I got tons so it will be an ongoing job.
Thanks mate!

Do you already own a speedlight? If so, the O-Flash 3/4-circle diffuser attachment costs about $35, and there is a length that will fit nearly any camera/speedlight combination. I have used it for 95% of my macro-photography. My websites are lower left.

Hi Nikonian72, No I don't have a Speedlight, up until just purchasing the D7000 I've used my old flashes off my film SLR on the D50 but I'm freaking out that I might blow the circuitry up on my new camera using these oldies on it.
What sort of money would I be looking at for a dedicated Speedlight to then use an O-Flash?
I've checked your work out before, very impressive !!!
Could you please explain what you mean by a length to fit, are there different sizes ?
Cheers !

Every speedlight model is a different height, as is every camera model. When mounted, my Nikon D5000 with a Nikon SB-600 uses an O-Flash model F160, because center flash lens to center camera lens is 160-mm.
