As a strong proponent of gun control, I'm actually glad the NRA filed this appeal. Let's expedite this whole thing and get it in front of the SCOTUS as soon as posible so we can settle this once and for all. The court has already ruled that it's OK to limit the Second Amendment, so let's get a more definitive answer as to the constitutionality of these various state laws. Then all of us on both sides of the issue can shut the hell up.

Sorry, I won't be shutting the hell up! I'm tired of the government taking more and more liberties with my freedom. The bills as proposed would do nothing to reduce gun violence but will restrict my rights as a gun owner. And what about the unintended consequences? Recently a woman emptied her revolver into an intruder that found her hiding with her child in a crawl space. He walked out of the house alive! What if there had been a second intruder and he killed her because she ran out of ammo? What recourse would her family have? Obviously she wouldn't have any recourse...or life...or anything!

I bet he/she won't shut up when the supreme court throws out the unconstitutional ny anti gun law. The supreme court already said iit is a individual right to own a firearm, that didn't shut up the hoplophobes

It's very clear - those anti control senators are more concerned with the next election than carrying out the will of the people, who by and large want more control. But the all important campaign money is not with the people, but with the NRA and gun manufacturers.

I hope the lawsuit against the NYSAFE Act is successful. The ACT is a travesty and an abomination. But then, I'd expect nothing else from Cuomo. He passed the Act in the middle of the night on a "message of necessity" and many thousands of legitimate gun owners woke up that morning to discover they were now classified as criminals.

i'm a life member of the nra but i'm pissed at this last fiasco,if i have to under go a check at the store then other buyers should under go them at gun shows. i don't like the fact that buyers are buying bunches of guns at gun shows and shipping them to mexico.i really don't it when "few" gun makers and the "few" million members of the nra have more influence with the senators and reps than the 200 + million rest of us.

Its really hard to imagine that acts like that have been passed in the USA....& people still think that the government approve of citizens owning guns..
Like Barry says...he goes trap shooting "all the time"..cant even hold a gun right..

It's about time the Legislature upholds the Constitution instead of pandering to a "lame" admin.

I would agree with you IF, IF the Senators and Representatives of the 200 million acutally DID represent the people but they DON'T. They represent greed and power. Just look at their salary then explain how they all become millionaires. Fire them all.

And this is a Democratic controlled Senate that couldn't pass this. Reid even voted No.

what makes you think that the 200 million plus agree with you??? Obama & NBC polls???
BACKGROUND CHECKS DONT WORK!! PERIOD!!
if you think that anything short of confiscation would stop weapons trade to Mexico you live in another world..that would be like saying the war on drugs is successful..as long as US citizens line up to buy drugs from Mexico & the cartel pays hard cash for guns there will always be an easy market & background checks will have ZERO effect...I live in Mexico about half the year and I have probably a different perspective on this issue than you..That doesnt make it right but thats the way it is..

I suspect that even in "wild west" Nevada, that most citizens are in favor of some amount of gun control. And I suspect that Harry Reid is of the same opinion, yet he's a realist, and realizes that those who most influence elections with their money and all, would go all out to defeat him, and his associates, in the next election, if he voted differently than he did.
