Canon t2i says external flash attached when not

I had a hot shoe mounted adapter attached to camera to fire studio lights. After removing it, the flash will not pop up or flash and camera message says external flash attached. HELP. I'm new here, so hope I'm in the right place. Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Look under the left or is it right side of the top of the shoe under the rails, there is a VERY small pin that sometimes sticks down use a match or pen to end to nudge it

It sounds like your hot shoe contact is stuck.
You can try turning the camera off then back on again.
You can try putting the flash back on then off again.
Then you can use a toothpick to try to loosen the switch.
From there you can remove the batteries, or
Take the hot shoe apart or get it serviced.
