Have you noticed that UPS has much better online tracking than FedEx? With UPS, I can see where the package is and when it will be delivered. FedEx gives me less information and doesn't predict a delivery date.
Like UPS, FedEx sometimes delivers to the post office, so that slows down delivery.
Recently I was tracking a FEDEX package, and expecting it to be delivered momentarily. Then I found out it was transferred to the local post office, and delivery would be later than expected.
I called the local postal facility and had them hold the package for me to pick up. We don't get our mail until almost 5:00 pm, but I was able to pick up the FEDEX package at 10:00 am. Luckily, I live less than a mile from the post office.

I've had problems with UPS/PO packages. The UPS tracking says it was delivered, but the PO say it doesn't have it. I had to wait three days for a package to be delivered after UPS said the PO had it. Ridiculous.

I don't want to hear of you going "Postal" if you know what I mean.

No worries there. I've mellowed.

Personally I don't like UPS because of their inability to resolve their pricing policy with their independent UPS stores... Big issue for me, have never left the local store happy....

Yeah, I avoid their indendent stores. I use a drop box most of the time. The local UPS opens at 3:30 PM, so that not convenient.
I use the local UPS franchise store a lot. Their hours are great, open until 6:30 pm. Their people are very helpful, whether I'm getting a 25 cent copy or shipping a large item for $60. I especially like their laser printer, it's much better than trying to have one in my home.
I don't know anything about their franchise pricing policies, all I know is I'm willing to pay a little extra for the convenience. The corporate UPS office is 7 miles away, and the local franchise store is only a mile.
Whenever your package is dropped off at the Post Office by UPS or FEDEX, it's done so at the request of the shipper. They both have contracts with certain shippers that specifically provide this service. Upon receiving an order the shipper is OBLIGATED to inform you of which service you are paying for because they are charging you accordingly.
As for independent stores, yes they cost you more than dealing directly with FEDEX. However KINKOS is FEDEX owned and operated, you'll get a small discount as opposed to calling for a pickup.

I've never known about the PO drop-off until I've seen it in the tracking info.

Yeah, but if you ship everyday you can set up a regular pickup time and you still get a discount.
Between the two, whichever of the two you think is best. Delivery in the USA still is way way way up the scale compared to most nations in the world. (Yes I am including 3rd world countries where delivery is always questionable.

My wife's office uses UPS--Fed-ex and Purolator--depending on who has pissed her off the least at any given time. Most of the time she says UPS stands for--Use Purolator Stupid. LOL
Can now do 'hold at location' with UPS. Don't know if it is new or I just couldn't figure it out before?
Always went Fed Ex if I didn't want my wife to see the package arrive. Picked up at nearby Kinkos. Now can use UPS.
