Just received the Canon EF100 f2.8 macro lens. Was playing around today so I picked on this dandelion. Used the new lens on a Canon 60D. Settings were iso 100 @f20 with 430exll flash and home made diffuser that is not complete yet. One thing I learned already is that I need to keep some notes. I'm not sure what flash settings were. Any C&C is welcome please.
C&C please
Your dandelion photo is quite good. I would be proud to call it my own.
When next you have a similar situation, remove a few seed/parachutes, to make the few remaining more interesting.
Each capture has Efix info imprinted into digital record. When you click on an image on your PC (without enlarging), the info should appear on screen.
I shoot full manual, adjusting speedlight output based on first exposure. I do not keep records, as I rely on exif data for exposure info, after the fact.

Thank you for your quick reply. I was aware of the efix data, but I did not see any info for flash other than flash was used. Also I must remember to hit the download tab if I'm going to get any help from you guys on the macro page. The best way that I have found to learn photography is from good well intended, even brutal at times C&C. Thank you so very much. Doug

Should we call you Doug Doug? (You "signatured" twice).
Level of speedlight output is not really important enough to record. I set my speedlight to manual, and adjust after viewing LCD of initial capture. My camera settings rarely change from 1/200-sec at f/16, with speedlight output at 1/2 power. I can easily drop to 1/4 power, or increase to full power, depending on WD, color of subject, etc.

Thanks Erv. I just need to master the art of focus. With my old hands it is very difficult to keep the camera still not to mention any breeze at such close distances. Going to have some fun though. Doug
Very nice....sharp and detailed.....we can have more fun with your shots if you check the "store original" box just to the right of the "Browse" button when you send in your shots.....
Great start there Doug and welcome to the old shaky hands club, macro is a fun part of photography for sure.

Thanks for your comments. I intended to hit the store original box, I guess the memory is starting to fail also!

Thanks for your welcome to the whacky hands club. Macro can be a lot of fun, just need smoke practice as I would prefer to shoot hand held whenever possible.
Welcome - I shake all the time - learned to hold my breath helps. Great start
Nice Detail, off to a great start.
