I know how to get an image from LR4 to PSE11. I can not figure out how to get it back into LR4 without saving the image, then re-opening it in LR. I'm sure it's something simple, any help please.
I have prepared a short tutorial for this very thing, if you would like a copy just pm me your email address, its in word but I can put it into pdf if required.

If you mean that after you "edit in Photoshop Elements" and PSE opens and you do the editing, and you are wondering what to do...then you just close the file by clicking the X on the file, and it will ask you if you want to save it...yes....and then it magically appears in LR....there's nothing to it.

Very simple. Use LR4 as your "home base" and open PSE11 from within LR4.
Then LR4 will keep track of it for you and allow you to make additional changes WITHOUT altering your original image.
You may also wish to explore LR4 further, as there is so much editing capability in version 4 that 98% of the time I have no need for PSE11.
With the image in LR4, highlite the image, use the photo pull down tab, go to 'edit in' and select PSE11. Make sure your select to adjust a copy and not the original. The image will be transported to PSE11 with all your LR4 adjustments. When the image is adjusted in PSE11, save it and it comes back to LR4.

You must save it after you are finished editing in PSE11. Then LR4 will show you the original raw image next to the altered PSE image in whatever file format you've chosen to save it in.
*Edit in LR4
*right click on image and click on edit in PSE11
*PSE11 opens with image displayed - complete your editing including the layering etc.
*save image as a psd or tif if you've layered the image
*save image as a jpg if no layering has been done.
*exit PSE11 and the new psd, tif, or jpg image should be next to the original raw image in LR4 - if not, right click on the LR4 folder that the image is in and sync folder to find the new image.
