Would you recommend upgrading Photoshop from CS5 to CS6, and if so why?

meh....I wouldn't...they are very similar and the improvements aren't worth a large cost output.

Upgrades typically cost less than the full price of the latest CS release.

Only if CS6 has got some new feature you absolutely need.

If you like to upgrade all the time as I do, you'll actually save quite a bit of money if you lease Photoshop rather than buying and upgrading constantly. The lease always provides you with the latest and the greatest.

How do you lease? I had no idea that was possible.

They call it a "subscription" now.

Go here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopfamily.html?promoid=JOLIW

Scroll down and on the right side, in the dark gray boxes, you'll see the following. Click on "Buy" and follow the prompts.

$19.99 for a one-year commitment is $239.88. Two years would be $479.76.

If you bought it now that would be $699. Figure an upgrade within those two years at another $199, or $898 for the two years. Already you've saved about 45% by using a subscription.

Just remember that if for any reason you decide to discontinue your lease you will own no program at all. If you have purchased any version, it is yours to continue using, until of course, the new operating systems that come out will not allow their use.
