Checklist (memory

So, have any of you developed a really good checklist of items to remember when you are going to do different types of photo shooting? I started several after reading Kelby's Digital Photography series and broke them down by landscapes, portraits, etc. I would be very interested in key points that more seasoned photographers remember to check --for instance every once in awhile I forget to change my ISO based on what I am shooting or I forget to double check photo equipment to take.

All comes naturally I don't check anything that is why I have to leave spare memory in the car because I would forget it, and batteries..... ;)

In fact I leave it all in the car then I won't forget

I did that "all in the car" practice once back when I was walking and forgot it all !! So even that didn't fix it for me. Mind you, some people's mental acuity is lower than others, and I qualified for the bottom rung.
Enjoy your day.

I a new to serious photography Myself so my take my list for what it's worth. I put this on a 4x6 card and covered with plastic overlay I got from an office supply. I keep it it my camera bag.

Set before taking pictures
1. Set White balance Button on side
2. Set ISO (sensitivity)button on top
3. Set shooting mode dial on top
4. Set metering type mult- Spot- Average
5. Set focus mode Single- Continuous- manual
6. Set area focus center- multi area
7. Set Film Simulation Standard- vivid- Astra
8. Set exposure compensation + 0 -

Now i need some type of note to make me remember to look at it before, not after I have taken a picture.

Your camera probably will have a slightly different list.

Well looks like I am fighting for JR1 for position. Sometime I have to dig a hole for myself.

If you happen to have an Android phone you should install Photo Tools (free or Pro for $2.52). In addition to many, many useful tools, it includes a checklist creator/editor that comes with 3 lists: Wedding shoot checklist, pre shoot checklist, and standard shoot checklist. (I'm going to add newwbe's list to my phone.)

When I first got the D600 my wife and I went on a short trip and I took some pics trying out the new camera. Funny, I forgot to re-set the ISO from some previous shots. The pic below is 1600 ISO outside in bright sunlight midday. Excuse me, let me say " YOU DUMBa&&" did not notice till I got home. LOL.

I have travel lists for various types of trips, but my photo trips are all about the same. I just take as little as I can and still have enough. One backpack is the ideal way to travel, for me.
