After watching and reading this site for a year or so, I've decided this is the place to post my question. Just please don't flood me with
more info than I can digest. After a childhood ( age 3 ) farm accident
that left my right forearm and hand badly damaged which I learned to use as I grew I'm ready for some help. I cannot hold and operate
any tool or appliance that requires right hand operation. As for a camera, all I can do is stick a tabletop tripod or anything that will screw in the bottom and use it for a handle. Now that I'm retired and ready to travel, I want a GOOD quality Left Handed DSLR and a left
handed camcorder.
Thanks in advance for any info and help.

The only left handed camera I can remember was the Exacta, not digital, perhaps you could rig a handle bracket on the left side and a remote release, it would take some fiddling and searching for parts, Bob.

Bob has the right idea going. They make flash brackets that give you a left hand grip. Just put any camera on a monopod and get a cable release and you will be good to go. The releases are electronic now so I think that will give you focus too.
And welcome to the site!!

OK rcmech1....i would like to welcome you to the hog. In answer to your question, I looked up "left handed cameras" on the 'net. Most all the major manufactures do make a left handed camera. I wanted to see anything about them but didnt get into detail. both Canon and Nikon do make left handed cameras as to others. Good luck. Stay with us. You ask a question and lo...you get answers. Looking forward to talking to you more, and giving answers to your questions....

I saw just last week where Canon has just or is about to release a 7DL for lefties. One of my 3 sons is a lefty, as was my dad, and was pretty excited at the possibility of getting one. I don't know if it was a rumor or what. You might try going to www.canonusa.com

I'd say "welcome" but looks like you've been here awhile. Well, heck, welcome anyway.

Hi RC... Welcome..... I've also heard about the new Canon. Haven't heard any reports about it tho. And I have to admit, I haven't looked into it yet. After an accident a year ago both hands are totally numb and I can hardly bend my fingers anymore. I need to look into something my self,, if you read or hear any news about the camera sure would like to hear about it.. Perhaps if I looked into it my own self I mite learn something. duh... anyway, good luck to you..
