My passport photo

I snapped several pics while setting up the lighting for the rather stringent passport photo regulations and had quite a few rejects. To one of these I added a few of the Lightroom effects and the result is shown here.

In the US that photo would be too underexposed and might be rejected. Not sure about where you are. :)

Quite right, the exposure was ok until I started playing with it - hence the grain, vignette and shadows, none of which are allowed on a passport pic.

Okay, I do like the photo though, you look like the sort who it would be fun to share a couple of pints with. Cheers! :)

I piddled with your portrait and you do clean up rather well, especially like the facial hair, although I might be a tad bit biased on that part. Doesn't a passport photo have to be 2" x 2" and also B&W? I think I read that somewhere, but not sure.

In the UK passort pics have to be 35x45mm high, shot straight on with even lighting and no shadows or other photgraphic embellishments. By the time the authorities have scanned them, any character there was has been washed out leaving an flat uninspiring image. After taking some 20-30 pics to arrive at the one they want, I discarded most of the others. I could not resist altering the aspect ratio, adding shadows, and generally trying to bring in the sinister look.
I have never been any good at art or creative stuff, so I was quite pleased at how this one turned out.
My chosen bland photo for submission to th authorities is below.

You look like a retired hit man in this photo.

the passport photos that i have done have had to have a white background.

here's a little processing to clear up the photo a bit.

i would take the shine off the forehead a bit. i just did a 5 second fix.

Thanks Jimberton, an interesting approach to a thoroughly unphotogenic subject.
