I thought it might be interesting to do a comparison
of bandwidth and cost of same. I been around a few days and have had dialup, Telco DSL at 1.5/300, and
now have Comcast Internet only. Speed is good price is out of sight. $78.00. This is mine how is yours? BTW this is in the heart of New Mexico.

Hi.
It works in the UK too:

Download was 8988, upload was 1089

I pay £13.99 for broadband and an extra £5 for all calls- free for evening, weekends and up to 6 family/friends.

I'm not worried about my band width, but the girth of my waist seems to be surpassing my desires and that worries me!

12 meg on cable? That's a little slow. I have VDSL from Centurylink (telco) and it's about 900 up and 19 meg down for $49 per month.

$130 per month is what I pay, but that includes my cable, digital cable, home phone and internet. Its a bundled package. I get 20 meg downloads, not sure about uploads as I don't do a lot of that. I can purchase up to 200 megs if I want to pay more. The works is delivered over a hybrid fiber/coax network that I help to design, I work for the same company.

Did you know that Comcast is the number 3 hated company in america! How fast do you really need. They advertise that they have the fastest speed so they can charge you more money and for what. Do you really need a car that can go 250 mph when speed limits are only at 70. That is what comcast is selling you. Something faster than what you reall need. I stream movies and they work fine at 26mbps. I dont think you really need more than that. I also use magicjack phone on it with no problems.
Comcast is loosing customers left and right so they are trying to make up for it by charging people more money for something they really dont need.
Your are paying $78 per month now, wait till your year is up and the price goes up to well over $120 per month.

Come and try the bandwidth I suffer with. It is anywhere between zero and 50 KILO bps, forget Megabits.
My connection timed out twice whilst trying to reply to this post. I pay approx. US$65 per month.
Hence I cannot even try to look at the video links posted on UHH.

How do you do the "Speed Tests" as shown above. My server has a flow chart indicating the speed, stating 'The Statistics may not be accurate'. Would be interesting to see how accurate they are.

Here's mine, from BT Infinity, which is fibre optic to the local box, then copper wire from there. Speed depends on how far you are from the box.

I may not be the fastest among the 'Hogs' but getting info on the Net is still faster than Royal Mail
I pay £32 ($20 approx.) per month for Broadband, line rental (copper wire alas) and free calls UK wide 24/7 (excluding premium numbers)
Better than some - Worse than others - But suits me fine.

great connection, I'm at 10 down and .72 up, it's DSL from my phone company and bundled with phone and HD Dish network for 4TV's at a little over 220 a month, I haven't found a faster connection here and for most purposes it is OK, uploading you tube can be tedious but it doesn't need babysitting most of the time. I use this site for bandwidth testing.

I want to thank everyone that responded to this request. I think it's a shame that the world can't get on the same page, the Internet has been around long enough that I would expect at least the countries with the money could due a better job.
I worked in the communications industry for 35 years and know they can do better. Its all about the money. A lot of people call the U.S.A. a leader of the free world, too bad it can't hold true for Internet access . Thanks again, Ron Anderson.
