Check out Picasa from Google. --- It is FREE!
Use Google search for Picasa, then download and install. When it installs it will automatically search your computer for picture files. Then just check out the help or go online to the Picasa site.

I had an xp, downloaded picasa 3.5 and used it with no problem. How much room do you have in the memory? If pretty full that might be your problem. Also - run the defragmenter and disk cleanup. These will put your files back into order and gain you some extra room in your computer. If you've never defraged before, it may take awhile. This helps your computer pick up some speed too.

Picassa is a good program, but I don't use it anymore becuz, at the time I was using it, when you first opened the app it would import EVERY image on your HDD - even ones embedded in apps! So-o-o-o.... if you want to keep images seperate (like Professional and Personal, or you dont want EVERY image on your computer organized) another choice might be better. And keep in mind, I have no idea what improvements may have been made in succeeding versions!
