I think it is a 'weekly' deal.
I don't participate cuz I don't care for the judging and submissions most of the time, so quit even looking.

Another fun area is to watch for the "Challenges" that come out 3 times a week. One is for "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", one is for the weekend and another for the rest of the week. If you watch the 'Newest Topics' you should see them pop up.

I would like to participate in the challenges wahawk mentioned, but the format of viewing, then commenting, is difficult - the first link he offered shows me there are 34 pages of entries and comments at present!

Which is better, or more interesting, for each person depends on what you are looking for. More comments will be given on the pictures in the Challenges, but they are not "judged" like the contests are.

I wish there were a way to put the comments with the photos. If I comment now on a photo on page 1, that comment ends up on page 34! Plus, if I comment on a photo on page 10, I am bumped to page 34 and have to find my way back again...

It would be nice to have each topic let the comments follow a 'thread' but this works. This way also lets people know when there are new posts to check and they don't have to check each comment to see if there have been replies. Just put the page number you are comment on (p10) as part of your reply then people can jump back to see what you were commenting on.

The contest will have a Subject line starting "WPC" for Weekly Photo Contest. Should be announced either today or tomorrow and run through next Mon or Tues I think. If you subscribe to the Daily Digest email from UHH it will appear in that, close to the top.

I love a challenge, and think it will be a good experience to focus on taking better photo's and learn more from others.

Best of luck to you! Once I stopped being lazy and entering older photos, I really got into the challenge of going out and finding something new that met the theme.

I agree, they have free contests as well as paid. it's a great site, I only wish they had some type of forum as I would love to speak with a couple if the photographers there sneak about their styles.
