Hey Guys & Gals, I shot this last summer with a T3i and a Sigma 18-200 lens. The Daddy Long Legs was good enough to hold still while I shot this :). I'm including two shots, one as taken and one cropped. I welcome any comments but I'm looking specifically for opinions on two aspects of the photo. First, whether to crop it or leave it as is. Second, does it detract from the photo having a soft focus on the rear legs. Thanks again for all of your comments. It truly is a pleasure engaging in photo talk with all of you.
Your photos are quite similar. I would like to see a tighter crop to spider.
A soft focus background helps separate your subject from background.

Great coloring subject could be larger
I like #1. Everything is whole, and the composition is more interesting to me. Good shot!

I agree with these comments but also feel some work to make Daddy pop more from the background would help.
You might consider even more cropping...keeping all the legs, of course.
Easiest might be sharpening or Lightroom clarity adjustment. Next might be to try desaturating the green and perhaps increasing vibrance on the Daddy's colors. Most difficult would be selecting to darken background and brighten Daddy.
Here's the idea...you'd need to do with original file
I like both. The setting is so interesting!
Pretty cool mods MtnMan. Thanks for your input
Thank You Linda. I always like your comments. :)
So Nobody thinks the soft focus on the hind legs is detrimental?

Unable to enlarge to view detail.
If you really desire C&C when you next post a photo, check the box labeled "
(store original)", so we can enlarge to appreciate detail & resolution.

Thanks Nikonion, I didn't know that. I'll do that the next time I post. I also noticed that the photos appeared darker here on the forum. Is that possible?

Thumbnails often appear darker, but enlarged images are better.
