I have been trying to shoot these little things for a week. They are not native to the UK but come over from Scandinavia in severe winters to feed on berries in the UK's milder climate. This flock of around 20 individuals has been hanging around the neighbourhood for a week or so feeding on cotoneaster berries in garden hedges. Cotoneaster berries appear to be pretty unpalatable to most birds and I think that they are eating these out of sheer hunger as there is nothing else left.
They have their plummage plumped up against the cold wind.
Nice set David, I wish I had then visit my garden.

Great shots. Poor little things hope they find some other food soon.

Hi Lorima
I think that they are waiting for better weather to make the journey back across the North Sea. Rather them than me!
