Much help Needed in the Burgh

The sky is so typical of Pittsburgh - how do we improve it. Would replacing it with a prettier blue be distracting?

The building in the background is out of focus- how do we improve it?

The horizontals are all different -what can I do?

Contrast isn't great and the colors are muted. Would it be better in grayscale.

Should I go back and re-shoot it, are there simple corrections or should I just trash it?

Is there any interest in the composition - or is it just too bland?

If the EXIF data is unavailable, I will be pleased to provide it.

I thank you in advance.

Its just too busy. Hard to figure out where the main subject is. I would crop out the bus stand and tree or re compose the whole photo from a different angle.

you might try a polarized filter. it would give the sky and clouds much better color.

You gave your own answer: ". . . go back and re-shoot it."

Yes, you could do something with this image, but then why waste your time when you could spend it developing a worthy image?

Suggestions:

1. Study composition

2. Study exposure

3. Study point-of-view

Practice while learning from mistakes and successes.

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately they are unfocused and are no more than glaring generalities.

There is nothing to be gained without your being reasonably specific.

Some images from your archives may be helpful.

He gave it to you straight but you didn't like what he said so let me rephrase
What is the photo what I saw first was the ugly roof sticking up on the left side and the exposure is poor. all in all it is not much of a photo

If you like the basic photo and are in a playful mood, then I'd suggest giving single-shot HDR a try. It will solve some of the issues, not all, but if used judiciously, you might like what happens.

If I were doing this one, I might consider doing it as a vertical, crop out the tree and shed, and let that tower really soar over the roofline.
