Great shots, the first one looks like a chickadee.

Yes. It is a small one. Just slap me. Now then, guess what? On that little guy it is actually easy to remove that branch that is somewhat blocking him.

Nice photos.

Yes, I don't think it's a chickadee because our chickadees are more black & white, and this one has a dark gray back with a yellowish underbelly.

You are so funny! I've seen those buffalo pics you take. :) And I think I will just get a better shot of him next time. I'm not good enough at pp to remove a branch...although that might be a good homework assignment.

No his tummy is more light yellow and his back a lighter gray. I think its a blue tit, like GRW100 said.

Well, Gene & Danny, I've been on the internet looking and now I'm not sure. It's hard to tell this time of year, because they haven't gotten their full color yet. He really does have the markings of a red breasted nuthatch.

OK. I didn't know we had that species here in the states. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Tit I based my decision on the markings and its upward pointing beak. Good pic. Thanks for showing.

No, I think you were right, he definitely wasn't that blue, and the markings are more similar to the red breasted nut hatch. We still have a ton of snow on the ground here, and the bird's colors are somewhat dull until spring kicks in. Gosh, I don't know.
