Hi AzPicLady

I Googled Boyce Thompson Arboretum to find it's location. I have never been to Arizona but its now on my list of must visit places. It looks beautiful. The bird shot (#2) is stunning against the blue sky. From the length and curve of it's beak it looks like a Humming Bird. Stunning little bird that beats it's wings so fast that it can hover over a flower while it uses the long curved beak to brink the nectar.

Can't help with the flowers but the pictures are stunning.

Hi AzPicLady br br I Googled Boyce Thompson Arbor... (show quote)

This bird is not a hummer - it's much too large for that. There are lots of hummers in the park, though.

Very pretty photos! The yellow looks like the smaller irises that group near edges of ponds.

Very nice photo's, don't know what bird that is but it's got one hell of a long beak! BTW, where is Boyce Thompson Arboretum? Might give us a better idea to identify the bird.

I can't think of anything that looks that way but a hummer. There are a lot of different types of hummers and some are much larger than others. I hope someone can identify it, I would love to know what it is. Great photos!!!

How about a thrasher? There are several kinds. You mentioned it sang beautifully. Here is a link that includes the song, though the bird doesn't look nearly as dark as yours. Maybe you could put it on whatbird.com. Inquiring minds need to know!
