Railtown 1897 - Saturday Steam Out. . .
Saturday was the opening day for train rides at Railtown. They don't always fire up the old steam engine; however, on Saturday they did. Most of you have seen this steam engine and train, as it has been featured in many movies and TV shows; to wit: High Noon; Petticoat Junction; Back to the Future II; and, many others.
Was there at 7:30 am, getting some fun shots of the entire process. Tomorrow they are opening up all the shops, roundhouse, etc. for a special tour for our photo club; however, no trains will be running tomorrow.
On Saturday I got about 250 great images, that I am still playing with. Here is one of those images, done in three different PP treatments. All the same image, just different PP.
Vote for your favorite, if you would please. The one with the most votes, I will print large, and frame it out to 20x24, for the gallery.
Black & White
Low Color Sepia

I'd print the low color sepia. The people stand out in it much better. But I also, really like the B&W. Great shot.
OMG, mooseyes, that is a hard decision. All are just simply superior in their own merit. I'll go with #2, the pastel colors bring out the steam and I can see the conductor and fireman/engineer. My father-in-law would have loved to have seen this sight. He was an engineer for the N&W, worked as a fireman as well
I really like the B & W and that would be the one I'd print.

Tough one, they are all super! The second would be my choice also it really shows the layers of steam. A lot can be said for authenticity....B& W for a steam train..so natural!
They're all beautiful, but that second one gets my vote. I'd venture to say that their gallery has many black and white renditions. Make sure the chamber of commerce in the train's home town sees this, too. (I just finished producing the chamber directory and map for my city and the pickings of great photos representing the city for the cover were slim.)
I envy you with this tough decision...sure wish it was my problem. My vote is for #2. It has a lot of character and just enough color to make one look at it awhile.
Good job Sir...have fun.

Great shot Mooeeyes Its #1 B&W for me. Love all train photos.
Oh My, what choices to choose from! If I really can pick only one it would be number 2......these are absolutely drop down gorgeous!

#1, #2. #3 great shot!
#2 is AWESOME, followed by #1 very closely.
#3 is interesting, but really doesn't do much for me.
My sincere thanks to all who have commented and voted up to this point. It seems that two votes go to the B&W, with the rest all going to the low color sepia treatment. No votes for the color graphic as yet.
This shot was taken at f/11 and 1/125th sec, at ISO 400. It was heavy overcast, in fact it sprinkled on me for a bit. The steam engine had left the water tower, and was heading towards me as I was backing down the track to the station. Love that IS feature!
I selected this image to post and share because if you look real close you can see a natural star effect on the lower left portion of that big "headlight".
If there seems to be enough interest, I may post a few more from Saturday.
Again, thank you one and all for your votes and comments.

#2 has too much pink to be considered close to a sepia-toned image. I would prefer true sepia, similar to #1 b&w.

Yes, and it is not a true macro either. But then, I am not confined to arbitary rules of creative expression. If you don't like the image that's fine; however, if you want to see it done in a manner to fit your narrow and preconceived notions of color, tinting and toning. . .then you are certainly free to stick to your narrow opinions of artistic expression for your own images.
"Has too much pink to be considered close to a sepia-toned image." Oh really. . .
