Daido Moriyama....
Posted as an example of what a professional photographer can accomplish with a compact digital camera. Currently shoots a Nikon Coolpix.
Daido Moriyama is a celebrated Japanese photographer, and at the age of 73 is still producing a prolific amount of work.
I posted this primarily because his philosophical views on photography are quite interesting. He is currently exhibiting in the Klein + Morihama exhibit at the Tate Modern in London.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foWAs3V_lkgClassic turnaround on those who shun small camera's in favor of DSLR's.
I've had DSLR's as a function of buying and selling camera's for income, but personally find myself never carrying them unless I am on a dedicated outing for photography.
Yet I carry my small camera with me, everywhere, and most of my work is with P&S and Olympus PEN mirrorless. That doesn't make me a Moriyama, but the essence of photography has ALWAYS been
"f8 and be there!" Not having a camera on you at all times is not a justifiable excuse in this day and age.
Most excellent.
I have recently realized I have become a street, a city photographer. It started with a Bridge camera.
"I was constantly irritated thinking, 'what is photography?' or 'why am I taking photographs?'" Quote Morihama.
Can you relate? I have asked 'why' even recently.
