Koalas eat a specific species of eucalypt leaves that ferment in their stomach. Consequently they sleep a lot from the alcohol generated, so getting a shot of them 'sober' is rare. My lucky day. This shot was taken last week at the Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo in New South Wales Australia. Hope you like. C&C welcome.

Sober Koala!

Funny you should say that, as I had the feeling this particular Koala was 'there for me'. It was too pat to be otherwise. Glad you liked! Thank you.

Thank you Tom! Have been concerned about the leaves on it's face. But I should know after 40 years of trying to get a 'perfect' photo of a Koala is a dream!

I don't know about that. What I do know is that it would be great NOT to have to go to the liquor store. On the other hand, being perpetually pissed has to have a downside! Now where's my drink ha ha!

great shot.If you want to take the leaves out ,use the band aid tool in photoshop or content aware. Both tools do a pretty good job .

Thank you GWR100. You are probably aware that these are iconic and uniquely Australian animals. A celebrated occasion occurred some years ago where one of them pissed on a grandstanding politician. Koalas 1, politicians 0! Love 'em!
