British Funnel Web Spider

Just trying a few different settings today to see if I can get any better shots.

So here's (I think) a UK Funnel Web spider (Amaurobius fenestralis) at home in my garden.

I've backed off the speedlight to 60%. F11, 1/250th, ISO250.

She's a far bigger subject (~8mm) but even so I think the resolution is a bit sharper.

Your opinions greatly appreciated.

Not too shabby!

Downloaded & enlarge, both images appear slightly back-focused from eyes.

Thanks - excuse my ignorance but what does that mean? Is it that my DOF is too high (i.e. on her legs?) I tried to focus on her head and mouth-parts on the overhead shot.

The gaze of every viewer of animal or insect photographs, is drawn to the eyes. This is why it is imperative to assure that eyes are in focus.

As you can see from the two enlargements below, your DoF is behind the eyes, which lead me to believe this was unintentional to have eyes OoF.
