There are several variations of this animated musical instrument, Jerry. Some are glass incarnations similar to xylophones, others are woodwind type instruments, ALL fascinating, but not real. Oh, well...

Its incredible what computers can simulate these days. :)
Fascinating!
It looks real. I think those strings are actually producing the sound. but I cannot figure out how the fingers might work. It looks a lot like the way human appendages but I can not see any evidence of the 'muscles' that pull the 'bones.'
I suppose it could be computer graphics but the reflections look so real and the instrument seems to be engineered for making the different kinds of sound in the music. If it was to be CGI, then why go to the trouble of engineering an instrument that seems to work so much like human joints without also engineering the rotating joints and simplifying the machine?
I wouldn't like to say if it is real or not.
Maybe it is something that is better left to just enjoy.

When I first saw this, I wondered how someone could program the music. Then I wondered how the fingers were made to move. Then I wondered if it was real. The graphics looked too "computery."

To do this they must have recorded both the picking and the fret work of the original musicians. All that's missing is the grinning!
Amazing piece of CGI.
The background looks familiar, like it's from... Myst? or some other computer game.
I'll see if my son can tell me if the notes look accurate.
He plays classical guitar.
This was a test of graphics drivers put out by 3DMark. I don't know if they still have test videos available but they were all utterly fantastic while I was building computers and testing graphics cards.

Yupper - Do a google search for 3D Mark and it is still doing graphcis tests. I'm getting 3D Mark 11 right now to check it out on this laptop.

I got the program. It is 3DMark 11 and it has:
1. Deep Sea Demo
2. Physics Test
3. Combined Test
Told me my laptop had:
NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M mobile graphics card
Intel i7-36120M Processor
Overall test result P1408
Graphics=1262 Physics=5745 Combined 1114

it is wonderful how computers can do whatever the mind can imagine. this was meant to amaze and to enjoy...nothing more or less.Computer generated graphics.thank you for sharing.
Animusic is great, I have 2 of their DVD's. It is all computer generated graphics.
EDIT: this is one of my favorite ones:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TexF2hWwG3Y this is what battle droids do when they have free time...
Thanks for posting Jerry. You got me missing my C4D and Vray.
nothing looks remotely real about it.
