These laws are not about 'photography' but about the unauthorized INVASION into Private Enterprise for purposes of 'economic terrorism' by individuals that have NO knowledge of livestock handling. Livestock need to be handled humanely, but that does not mean handling them like people either.
I say do it anyway, it's the right thing to do. Any good investigative photo-journalist has an obligation to shoot these kinds of unethical practices, legal or not. Just MHO of course.

Get you head out of rear end please.
These laws are passed because of intense lobbying by those intent on hiding cruel or illegal practices in the name of the dollar.
IMHO
These laws will NEVER stop! As long as companies continue to pollute, do inhumane acts, police use unethical force, and politicians commit corrupt acts, there will be laws passed to inhibit people from knowing of it. As long as we as a people allow the politicians to pass this type of legislation we are all at fault. That is why we have a ballot, and free elections.

OTOH, one of those INVASIONs showed a California meat processor putting sick and "downer" cattle in our food supply due to lack of oversight. Some of that was headed to schools and other institutional buyers. Still don't like it?
I have no delusions about how meat gets on a plastic tray (grew up in dairy/cattle county), but we can't rely on USDA or state inspectors who often come from the industry they're asked to oversee.

It baffles me how you can think that exposing the truth is somehow economic terrorism. Moreover, if something as important as our food supply is allowed to become private enterprise, by what principle do you think that any private concern serving a public interest has no duty to account to the public?

The only people who want to ban photographers are those who are conducting illegal or immoral acts. There has never ever been as much coverup as there is today. Its illegal to do this or to do that or to do the other thing..... You have to be unbelievably politically correct....
