So while I'm getting an eye full of the birds and bees, look what lands right next to me. Some days you just are lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. This Swainson Hawk alighted on the limb with a squirrel carcass in tow. I don't know whether the squirrel met his end as a result of the hawk's talons or if it was just a road-kill and the hawk was taking advantage of the situation.

Wow! What a great capture! Mother Nature at its finest or worst. Poor squirrel. But I guess every hawk has to eat!

The hawk seemed to like it raw. I prefer mine cooked.
