Just eclosed male Monarch butterfly

My first eclosed Monarch of 2013. Caterpillar reared on long-leaf milkweed, then 10-days chrysalis, then eclosed during night of April 01.

Placed on neighbor's hummingbird feeder before first flight, morning of 04/02.

Hand-held Nikon D5000 at ISO 400, Nikkor 105G macro lens, 1/200-sec at f/11, overcast sky with Nikon SB-600 speedlight & O-Flash 3/4-circle Fresnel prism attachment.

Subtle lighting with flash , excellent image.

Hi Douglass :-) I like the ethereal, translucence of this shot, very nice...Do you actually breed these, if so I find that so pleasing. I think we will all be breeding Bees over here soon if things dont change, they are dying out at an alarming rate :-( tfp :-)
