See this before processing Jpegs

There has been copious discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of shooting Jpegs versus Raw. I won't repeat them. There can be no dispute over the results of processing, especially repeatedly processing, Jpegs.

Yep, JPG's loose quality every step made in processing them. So convert them to TIFF, as soon as you open them up from the camera. A TIFF looses no quality from processing, I even have printed from Tiff before. And I save all my JPG's that I save to DVD, in TIFF.

And remember to always work on a copy of the original so you won't lose it.

Wow! I had heard about this but didn't give it much thought. After reading your post and looking at the examples you linked I will evermore make my initial download save as a tiff. Thank you very much.
