I'm not a pro photographer but aspiring to become one someday. I bought me two used pocket wizards but what I thought would be easy is starting to be difficult. Whether I set my wizard 5-10 ft apart I am always getting a half exposure. I always notice this when I'm shooting indoors and an ISO of over 200. Can someone help me learn how to correct this? I thought I've tried everything? The other day I used inside an abandoned building, had my settings at Manual Mode, ISO of about 250, aperture of F8, and shooting at about 8ft.
What are your shutter speed settings? Are you shooting manual exposure? Shutter speed values faster than 1/200 of a second will cause half pictures to occur.
I have a nikon d90 and had me flash settings on the camera to FP in order for my SB600 to flash at ISO speeds over 250. It still came out half exposed. When I do this in daylight outside, it works fine.
I see your ISO is over 250. I am wondering about your shutter speed. Are you using shutter speed priority or aperture priority or manual settings or "P" mode?

Why do you need a pocket wizzard for your Nikon D90, it already has wirless flash capabilities built into it?
Yes. But at certain angles and distances, it doesn't fire off especially if I'm shooting at a narrow angle when my flash has to be positioned in a spot that can't be possible to fire using the wireless.
I was using manual but I thought it didn't matter what mode I was in.
Just off subject, have you ever viewed the pics on 500PX and noticed that the best images from Nikons were from the D90,D300 and D700??? well D800 as well

If you are getting a "half black frame" then the PW's aren't supporting FP. (high speed sync)
I just checked the web and it looks like they don't.
You must keep your shutter speed at or below the sync speed of your camera if you are going to use the PW II's.
The MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 are the ones that support FP.
You camera's flash sync speed is under 250 which is why you're getting a partial exposure. I suggest you read the books by Neil Van Neikerk or look at his website and the strobist website.First know the basics including knowing your camera.

Actually, ss of 1/250 would be fine IF the PW's supported high speed sync.
