Saw your set up - how is the lens working for you at higher magnifications?

I've said it before, the problem won't be with the lens, I tried using it with a split focusing screen, big no no, back with stock one and it changed my keeper rate by a large margin

My problem starts about 2.5:1 trying to see what the heck I'm focusing on. Have you found a focusing screen to help? Nice series buy the way and your flash is really working on this lady bug. You always get a hot spot on them somewhere.

no the focusing screen won't help at the high end because of lack of light, I am working on a spot light for that purpose (flex neck pelican led flashlight mounted on my rig) the focus lights on my MT24 twin flash are two weak and of short duration to help much because of the frakendiffuser)

here's what I have been using in the "laboratory" VERY useful, I put a 3" snoot on it to cut down on side glare hitting the lens, comes with a magnet clip, I added my own rare earth mags to increase the holding power. in the "lab" I use a 3' square of 1/8" thick galv sheet which allows for great flexibility to move my gizmos around. I use magswitch magnets to facilitate easy adjustments

Yeah I've seen a few guys do this. It makes sense. Light what your trying to see. Like small print on a newspaper, easy to read in the light.
