I have been using a Transcend 64 gig SDXC card in my D7000. This morning, I turned the camera on and got a message that the card may be damaged. Is there any way to fix it or do I need to spend more bucks for a new one?

Remove and replace the card.
Try it in the other slot.
Reformat if possible.

have you LOW LOEVEL formatted it, Canon 60Ds offer this, or using windows do a low level format then format it again in the camera

Good, I sure the Canon users will make use of the information. The questions was about a Nikon D7000.

Excuse me. You did say D7000, did you not?

Always, reformat your cards in camera. Do not reformat on a MAC or PC.

You are perfectly ok formatting all cards on pc/mac there is no problem like that as I said you then put it in the camera AFTER LOW LEVEL formatting it in the pc and format it in/for the camera

Thank you all for your suggestions. I was, i think, able to erase and repair the card using the Mac disk utility. Then reformatted in the camera and no longer get a warning message. Took some quick snaps of the kitchen table to test and all seems well. thank you again.

NOTE: Kitchen tables DO NOT represent a proper Test of SD cards. You will need to hire a model, a make-up artist, and a stylist to perform a true test. Union Rates apply, of course, and a sack-lunch must be provided.

I wanted to do that, but I'm a little short on funds right now and have a shoot this afternoon. Besides, kitchen tables work cheap.

Hello edgorm, this happened to me a few years age, since then I never take my card out of the camera unless really vital.
I download the shots onto my PC regularly, I format the card in the camera. The least times you handle the camera the better.

Sidney:
I also have bent the same single pin in both of my Canon 10 D's. I found that my card had a defective port. Were you able to have the pin fixed?

I shall never again take another card out of my camera!
Thanks,
Sonny

PS: I love your avetar! What a gtreat shot!
